This former summer residence of the Royal family, has now been converted into a fabulous hotel. With Pichola lake surrounding the palace, lapping and murmuring, rippling waves makes the whole atmosphere very pleasant. All the luxuries of the palace have been utilised in making the hotel as attractive and as comfortable as possible. The Lake Palace Hotel is considered to be one of the best hotels in the world. Non guests of the hotel can only come over for lunch or dinner, and that is only possible if the hotel is not full.
Full day excursion to Ajmer
Ajmer was founded in the 11th century by Ajaydev, a local Rajput ruler. The city is famous for the dargah (tomb) of Sufi Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti, whose Urs is celebrated every year in the seventh month of the Muslim lunar calendar. Pushkar, a small holy town of Hindus near Ajmer, is now famous for its camel fair that attract the tourists from all over the world.
Full day excursion to Sanganer
This small town with its ruined palace and old Jain temples is situated around 12 km south-west of Jaipur. However, more than its architecture, the town is famous for its block-printing and papermaking traditions. Chipa Basti is the place where you can watch the printers in workshops doing screen and block printing.
Sariska National Park
The picturesque Siliserh Lake lies along the edge of the Sariska Tiger Reserve. Declared a sanctuary in 1955, it became a Tiger Reserve in 1979 under project Tiger. Herds of sambar, chital, nilgai and sounders of wild boar are the prey population for predators like the tiger and leopard, roam the 766 sq km Reserve. Other carnivores include the hyena, jungle cat, and caracal. Interestingly enough, the wild dog has been sighted in the Park only in the last few years. The park has hides carefully located near the water holes which offer fine opportunities for viewing and photographing wildlife.
Suraj Mahl's Palace (Deeg)
Suraj Mahl's Palace has to be one of the most stunning and delicately proportioned buldings in India. It was used by the the Maharajas until the early 1970's and most of the original furnishings are still contained in most of the rooms.
Mount Abu
Sprawling along a 1200m high plateau close to the Gujarat border is Mount Abu. This is Rajasthans only hill station and is a pleasant hot-season retreat from the plains of both Rajasthan and Gujarat. The pace here is easy going although it can get rather crowded during the summer months. There are a number of important temples here along with it's own lake which is often the centre of activity.
