Mecca Masjid is one of the largest mosques in the world and can accommodate up to 10,000 followers. Commencement of this mosque started in 1614 and was not completed until 1687.
Hyderabad has one of the largest stone Buddhas in the world. Unfortunately the monument sank into the lake but in 1992 a salvage company raised it undamaged. You can access this monument by boat which takes around 30 minutes to the statue from Lumbini Park.
The Archaeological Museum has a small number of finds from the local area along with copies of paintings from the Ajanta caves in Maharashtra.
Golconda Fort was built in the 16th century. During this time it has seen the occupation and abandonment of different cultures. The bulk of the fort dates from the Qutb Shah Kings although it's origins have been traced back to the earlier Hindu periods.
The Tombs of Qutb Shahi Kings are located about 1.5 kms north west of Golconda Fort's Bahisar Gate. They are surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. You are able to walk from the gate to the tombs, however rickshaws are available.
