The High Court Building at Parry's Corner is the main landmark of George Town. It was built in 1892 and is said to be the largest judicial building in the world.Fort St George was built in 1653 by the British East India Company and has undergone a lot of alteration. It presently houses the Secretariat and the legislative Assembly.
St Mary's Church was built between 1678-1680 and was the first English church in Madras.
St Andrew's Church near Egmore station was built in 1821 in the classical style. Inside there is an impressive blue dome which is decorated with gold stars.
Valluvar Kottam is located on the corner of Kodambakkam High Road and Village Road and honours the Tamil poet, Thiruvalluvar. Established in 1976, Valluvar Kottam replicates teh ancient Tamil architecture.
Sri Parthasarathy Temple is dedicated to Krishna. Built in the 8th century by Pallavas and renovated in the 16th century by teh Vijayanagars. It is the oldest surviving temple in Chennai.
