Jammu and Kashmir

The world renown attraction of Kashmir is the houseboats. During the Raj period the Kashmir ruler would not let the British to land here. Therefore the British adopted a solution being the houseboat. A stay is not complete without a houseboat experience.

Srinagar's old city is dotted with mosques and houses. The new part of the city is located farther up the Jhelum river which is famous for it's seven bridges.

Gulmarg and Pahalgam are great areas for trekkers. Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave is undertake each year in July through to August by it's followers. So accommodation in Gulmarg could be difficult to obtain.
